Create Power BI workspaces

This section details the steps required for you to create the Power BI workspaces required for each instance of Pro-Sapien.

Before you start​

Prerequisite stages​

Confirm the following stages have been completed:

Parameters​

The following values from the parameters workbook are required:

  • {PowerBI-Workspace-Name}
  • {Deployment-Accounts}

Permission required​

Use an account with the following permissions:

  • Power BI Administrator, or permissions in Power BI Service to create workspaces

Power BI Workspaces​

Create a new workspace in Power BI Service for each Pro-Sapien instance.

Two instances will be deployed, requiring two workspaces:

  • UAT (test)
  • Production (live)

Separate workspaces are recommended for UAT and Production. Workspaces can be shared with additional users or groups as required.

Use the following details for the instance.

  • Name: {PowerBI-Workspace-Name}

Grant permissions​

Add the {Deployment-Accounts} for the instance to the workspace with the following workspace role:

  • Contributor

In Power BI Service, Contributor is the minimum workspace role required to publish reports and semantic models to a workspace.
